We are excited to invite you to Shahto Ali’s third solo exhibition with new works - Land. His latest work focuses on land and belonging, alluding to the various tribes that all inhabit his native Sudan. He explores the history and traditions of his country, painting syncretic references of African mythology, indigenous practices, inclusivity and belonging. Ali’s elongated characters and playful motifs is a recurrent theme in his bold compositions, he employs natural subdued colours to continuously takes us back to the Land.

Wir freuen uns, Sie zu Shahto Alis dritter Solo Ausstellung mit neuen Werken – Land – einladen zu dürfen. Sein neuestes Werk konzentriert sich auf Land und Zugehörigkeit und spielt auf die verschiedenen Stämme an, die alle zu seinem Heimatland Sudan gehören. Er erforscht die Geschichte und Traditionen seines Landes und malt synkretistische Referenzen afrikanischer Mythologie, indigener Bräuche, Inklusivität und Zugehörigkeit. Alis langgestreckte Charaktere und verspielte Motive sind ein wiederkehrendes Thema in seinen kühnen Kompositionen. Er verwendet natürliche, gedämpfte Farben, um uns immer wieder zurück ins Land zu führen.
